High-Impact Absorption Gear
Belly Pads & Thigh Pads
- These are the heavy-duty anchors of a trainer's kit.
- Belly Pads: Allow trainers to absorb front kicks, knees, and body hooks safely, turning the coach into a "live" heavy bag.
- Thigh Pads: Especially for kickboxing and Muay Thai, these let athletes practice low kicks at full power without injuring the trainer's legs.
Focus Mitts & Thai Pads
- Focus Mitts: Smaller, lightweight targets designed for speed and boxing precision. Air-cushioned or "micro" mitts are often used to reduce joint jar for the coach.
- Thai Pads: Larger rectangular pads worn on the forearms to catch heavy kicks, elbows, and knees.
Punch Shields & Kick Shields
- For heavy hitters, trainers use oversized shields.
- These are held with both hands or strapped to the body to absorb maximum kinetic energy from "power shots" that might overwhelm standard mitts.
Precision & Coaching Tools
1. Training Paddles & Sticks
- Striking Paddles: These replace traditional mitts for high-speed drills. They extend the coach's reach and significantly reduce impact on wrists and elbows.
- Focus Sticks: Padded sticks used to improve a fighter's head movement and defensive reactions by simulating incoming punches.
2. Corner Supplies
Crucial for the minutes between rounds or during active sparring:
- No-Swells & Ice Bags: Essential for reducing facial swelling and treating bruises instantly.
- Trainer's Tape & Gauze: High-tensile athletic tape used for professional hand wrapping and securing gear.
3. Gym Management Tech
- Interval Timers: Large digital displays or wearable devices to manage rounds, rest periods, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
- Punch Counters/Sensors: Wearable tech to track an athlete's volume, velocity, and impact force in real-time.
